Today - December 13, 2006 we have reached and surpassed the number of hits we received online for the website.
The counter keeps a track record of visitors viewing the page in a certain period of time, therefore, not generating repeated hits. The 10k mark is thus genuine. Praise the Lord!

Linked to Wikipedia
I added a link to Wikipedia.
Will consider putting up a full entry soon. Maybe I should turn this into a project for the boys..

3rdklbb.org's Logo Changed
I've change the 3rdklbb.org logo to a newer looking one. It'll be used for quite awhile if no one objects to it, of course. To represent other "sub divisions" within the website, a gold font tag will be added to the bottom right of the logo.. such as "3rdklbb.org-Videos". There's a white and black version. Thank God for the inspirations!

Added Slide Bar
I've added the slide bar thingy from Slide.com as part of my initial plans some time ago. I think it meshes pretty well with the website. Awaiting feed-back.
Added some adsense features to the website.. both 3rdklbb.org and Boots & Brasso. Time to generate income for the company!

One for the time capsule
This is a snapshot of 3rdklbb.org on the 20th of September 2006, marking it 7 months since the websites unofficial launching on 20th February 2006. Official launch date will be announced at a later time, but provisionally on the 1st of January 2007 in light of the company's 50th Anniversary. At this moment we have a total of 6400 hits with an average of 50 a day (last month it was an average of 70 hits a day!) The highest hits we've recorded was over 100 hits after the E&A2006 period, registering healthy visits to the company's website.
Joint Venture Agreement Made with MyBBKul
On the September 16, 2006 a verbal agreement was made between the makers and webmasters of MyBBKul, BB Malaysia's official webzine, and 3rdklbb.org.
The agreement consist of a joint venture when it comes to providing natioanl news, of which 3rdklbb will provide non-3rd KL news to MyBBKul, but under the package and acknowledgement of 3rdklbb.org.
3rd KL related news will still be featured on 3rd KL's official website, which may also be sent to MyBBKul.
In short, 3rdklbb.org will dedicate to providing MyBBKul with news from 3rd KL and other BB related news. The news will still also be featured on the 3rdkl website, but the story is hosted in MyBBKul. Officially the news will still be under the ownership of 3rdklbb.org.
As for news on the national scene, should MyBBKul already have a report/news write up on an event, 3rdklbb.org is still free to do their own write up on that same event. The reason for this would be same as why we have so many newspapers/tv news networks around - freedom of press. This will also continue to sustain the healthy competition between both our websites.
This day marks an interesting milestone for 3rdklbb.org with a joint agreement with such a reknown BB website, arguably the most active and most up-to-date BB website in the world.

The biggest obstacle
Many people at one point or another has asked me what is the biggest problem I face in running a website. With the current success.. and I can confidently say it's been a one man show so far.. so much as I am still alive. So what is the biggest obstacle? It's not the money needed to run the website.. it's not even so much of the time needed.. nor the technical skills to run a website. It's people.
It frustrates me when volunteers are asked for again and again.. but no one is able to write a good one page article... JUST ONE PAGE. It makes we wonder how they're able to cough out essays on the spot during exams.
The best part is.. when it comes to awards day they wonder "why did I not get promoted??" HAH! What a surprise. Same problems go for singspiration. I asked for volunteers.. and out of the 130 membership 3rd KL has.. number of volunteers = 0 (excluding those already serving). Well, if anyone is reading this.. don't blame us when promotion doesn't come yet again.
Things used to be so different. It used to be at a point where everyone would volunteer and it was so difficult to get in. Yea.. well, I guess things have changed. Those days, there were so many good candidate for promotions till we need to make hard and painful decisions. Now, NONE are good candidates.. but it's still hard to promote someone.. cause they're all a bunch of retards.. imagine rewarding someone who does nothing? Please. Fortunately, we haven't come to that extent yet.. all the NCOs are still worthy. But I fear a time when these bunch of privates who do nothing but sit around start asking why they are still at the ranks they are. Boy, I can't wait to tell them why.
With me going overseas next year.. if the younger people do not start lifting a finger.. then I guess we can confident say that 3rdklbb.org will be inactive for 2 years.
If you're reading this, I hope you feel my frustration and start contributing in whatever ways you can. Sure, it's easy to let someone else do it.. but what does make you? Someone worthy.. or someone useless? Think about it. I offer this oppurtunity to you to make a difference in your life and for the company.

Utilizing the Forums
I think everytime/most of the time we write another 3rd KL article .. or something worth talking about we ougtha link it to the forums to allow more interaction. Probably I can add a "Discussion" link under the video clip and Full Story.. we'll see how it goes.

Goals
No. I'm not talking about the World Cup. I'm talking about 3rdklbb.org's short and long term goals and objectives.
Short term goals:
To be obtained by the year ended 2006
i) Have 100 hits per day
ii) Weekly updates
iii) De-trial the website and move into shakedown version
iv) Obtain first sponsors to cover cost for 3rdklbb.org hosting
Long term goals:
Usually in span within 5 years
i) Have 500 hits a day
ii) Updates more than once a week
iii) Have a steady, dedicated, & reliable web team
iv) Create a professional looking layout/template
v) Incorporate Java, Flash and scripts
vi) Buy original software to accomodate these activities
vii) Buy a computer for BB room for web making, video editing and graphic design
viii) Buy a sweeeett* printer for publishing and administrative reasons
viii) Become a source of income (from advertisements and sponsors in form of donations)
*Sweet printer = 3 in one coloured laser printer
Looks nice eh?
The biggest problem is always figuring out how to get there??
Strategy
i) Archiving the illusive 100/500 hits
(aiyo. I'll update this section another day. =P)

Snap Shot Section?
Last Saturday (2oth May 2006) we had an unusually free Saturday after the YMCA Sports things. A few of us decided to head down to KL, where we dropped by places like Woh Fatt and Bentley Music. On the way from Woh Fatt to Bentley we decided to "pass by" Wesley and have a glimpse of the 1st KL band practicing. We didn't really get to see much as they stopped practicing and broke formation once they spotted us. As we were walking away, they gradually went back into formation.. and nearing the gate.. we turned around and teased them. Haha! At the same time.. I decided to take this shot. Tells alot of how they reacted towards us.

This prompted a new idea - why not create a section where members can post of snap shots? There is already an existing section in the forums where it encourages members to post pictures.. maybe we can complement it. It'll be good to encourage creativity and photoraphy among members.
I'll definately put more thought into it.. as we're also thinking of some form of competition.. well see how it goes.

Approaching 3 months since website birth.. and one month sinced it went public..
Phew! It's sure hard managing a website.. so far response has been great. Minimal complaints.. tonz of support. But there's still so much to do! We can't even go official yet caused its simply not finished. Too many parts are not operating. Well.. I just hope that by God's strenght we'll be able to pull this through ..
There are so many more ideas to put in.. and still no volunteers signing up. So.. still more room for growth. I really hope this website doesnt end up a one-man-show thing. It'll be so lame.. (and tiring).
Still contemplating on a suitable layout. Once that's figured out.. we still need the graphics and scripts to make it work. Argh! Headache.
More updating to do!
